1. Source of rights
The license file, package metadata, repository notice, and file header for a specific Runstamp component are the source of truth. Components expressly released under Apache-2.0, MIT, or another open-source license receive the rights in that license. These Terms do not reduce them. Source availability or proximity to an open-source package does not by itself grant a license to private, unlicensed, trademark, hosted, or commercial material.
This Policy supplements the Terms. The express open-source license controls for its component; an executed Order Form controls for a Commercial Component or service identified in it.
2. Definitions
Open-Source Component means a package, repository, file, example, or tool expressly carrying an open-source license. Commercial Component means a private package, proprietary service, hosted feature, enterprise support/material, entitlement, certificate, or other item expressly identified as commercial and not released under an open-source license. Output means a document, presentation, spreadsheet, PDF, image, HTML, report, receipt, or other artifact generated through authorized use.
3. Open-source use
You may use, copy, modify, and distribute an Open-Source Component as its license permits and must comply with attribution, notice, source, patent, trademark, and other conditions in that license. Open-source software is provided under its own warranty/liability terms. A paid Runstamp offering covers hosted operation, governance, support, or expressly identified proprietary material; correctness of an open-source engine is not converted into a paid-only right.
4. Commercial grant
During an active trial, subscription, or Order Form, we grant the Customer a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, worldwide right to use the identified Commercial Component within the users, deployments, formats, features, and purposes shown in the entitlement. Unless stated otherwise, authorized personnel/contractors may use it for Customer projects and may distribute Outputs, but not the Commercial Component itself.
5. Restrictions
Except where an Order Form or mandatory law permits, you may not redistribute, mirror, sublicense, sell, lease, publish, or expose a Commercial Component or credential; place it in a public repository/registry; provide unrelated third parties substantially equivalent direct access; bypass entitlement checks or technical limits; reverse engineer non-public material; remove notices; use it after expiry; share credentials outside scope; or use non-public material to build a competing product.
These restrictions do not apply to an Open-Source Component where its license grants the relevant right.
6. Outputs and third-party material
As between Customer and Plain Works, Customer owns Outputs. Outputs generated during a valid entitlement may continue to be used after expiry. We do not grant rights to Customer inputs or third-party fonts, media, trademarks, datasets, templates, or software. Customer must review outputs, license embedded materials, and preserve required notices.
7. Entitlement credentials
Commercial access may use online keys or signed offline certificates. Protect them from public repositories and unauthorized reuse. Local certificate verification can occur without sending document content or a validation request to Runstamp. We may rotate, revoke, suspend, or replace credentials for compromise, fraud, chargeback, scope violation, or breach. Fully offline revocation may rely on expiry, replacement, key-version rotation, or updated deny-list material.
8. Expiry, reproducibility, and audit
At expiry, stop using the affected Commercial Component and delete private distributable artifacts unless retention is needed for lawful historical build records. Open-source rights and Outputs continue. Long-term reproducibility, escrow, extended support, air-gapped rights, true-up, or audit obligations must be in an Order Form. We will not inspect local source documents or outputs merely to verify a license unless Customer supplies them or uses a hosted feature.
9. Trademarks and notices
Open-source licenses do not grant rights in Runstamp or Plain Works names, logos, or marks except legally permitted nominative reference. Third-party notices supplied with a component must be retained as its license requires.
